The Ffestiniog Railway - Bygones Weekend 2021
For 2021 the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway chose to stage another 'Bygones Weekend' in place of the usual Victorian Weekend.
Having missed the 2020 event, I eagerly made my way to Wales and Porthmadog over the weekend of the 8th to 10th October 2021.
Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Although I do hope we can return to a normal 'Victorian Weekend' next year. However, needs must and thank you to the Ffestiniog and all the Volunteers for an excellent weekend.
A return to shooting video with a new style to enable me to continue taking stills at the same time. I hope you enjoy.

The Talyllyn Railway - Autumn Steam

I book ended my weekend at the Ffestiniog Railway with two visits to the Talyllyn. During October the Talyllyn is running daily with one engine making two round trips. A wonderful way to spend an Autumn Day! Tom Rolt was the engine on the Thursday with Sir Haydn on the Monday. www.talyllyn.co.uk/

A visit to the Fairbourne Steam Railway in July 2018. It's been quite a few years and a couple of cameras since I last visited the Fairbourne. During this visit I enjoyed a couple of round trips in the summer sun.

A few of the layouts from the 2018 GCR Model Show and a few shots of the full size railway. Having exhibited the last two years it was nice to visit this show as a punter again. However I had forgotten how difficult it was to fit everything you wanted to do into a single day. The GCR and Sour Valley Club are certainly onto a winner with this show!

The Snowdonian, Saturday April 14th 2018. Since the completion of the Welsh Highland I've wanted to complete the entire route from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Caernarfon. The Snowdonian is one of the Special Trains that the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland runs to do just that. This is my video of the weekend. we done Caernarfon to Porthmadog. 2 weeks ago long with 3 other runs in 2 years ,,, great day out with friendly staff ,, we will be back again as only live in llandudno, thank you guys,

Today was part 1 of blues and twos 2021, fire crew from Scunthorpe showed me their pump, i sat in a sabre, i got a sabre 1:50 model, i saw the dennis SS, scania 1 series and Green Goddess do a chemical incident and show off their ground monitors. Scunthorpe retained fire crew were really nice and chatty

I remember visiting in 2012 and drinking in the Smallest Pub In England at the interchange here. You could seat about four people and maybe another three standing. We drank our excellent ales outside.

I do have to point out that that's not technically the vintage train as such that Dolgoch is pulling. The vintage train is strictly carriages 1 through 5 (the original stock from before preservation), while this has the Corris saloon and the GVT bugbox, and only 4 of the original 5. Still, it's a lovely video
This is the Victorian Vintage Train service they ran on the day the video was shot. One of the original coaches was out of service so the extra capacity was needed. More recently, this has been called the 'Quarryman's Experience': www.talyllyn.co.uk/experiences/quarrymansexperience

Artistically beautiful video, Britain has the most charming steam locomotives in the world.

May be the locomotive speed is 60 to 70 kmh.Strong and heavy cocomotive. I am from west Malaysia.
British Preserved railways are limited to 25mph. Not sure if the Ffestiniog has any sections at that speed however.

Located in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, England, in case anyone's wondering.
That's a serious line-up.
For a heritage railway, they keep the track in top shape. Virtually all of it looks recently ballasted. Only one abandoned halt, and the rest looking shiny and new. Thanks for posting!
The track looks new because it is new. The Welsh Highland railway has only recently been rebuilt.

Great video. My only quibble, having watched the leg from P'dog to C'non, was that you filmed the same side on the return and missed the views of Snowdon coming back!
